Journal 2
From my PB1A I discovered that when describing the genres I mostly just wanted to talk about the conventions. In other words, I felt that it was impossible to just say what genre I was talking about without diving right into the rules of that genre. From reading another person's PB1A I found it surprising that most news articles, no matter what the topic may be, also followed almost the same conventions. I had never realized that although the articles were two completely different subjects, they still went by the same rules. Also from reading others, I discovered that there are far more genres than I could have ever imagined. For example, I would have never thought that Youtube comments can be considered as a genre. And that there are "traditional" genres that can change as time goes by but are they still considered the same because they still follow the main conventions. I have not decided on a topic for my WP1 but I am thinking about writing on the topic of the genre of realistic fiction. I am interested in writing about this but I'm curious to see just how many books almost "cross the line" to fiction.
